Default the trivial decision - chrome or black?

I don't own any leica...yet. I tried the M8 in a shop here today and found that chrome is actually quite nice. But being a demo set with so many people holding it,etc. it seems like it can get "dirty".

which is yours and why?

Both are nice. Chrome is probably more classic. Mine is black. But starting to appreciate chrome-I've changed all except one of my 50mm lenses to chrome
If you can't decide, you can always buy TWO

Black for stealth...chrome for that classic look. Matches well with all lenses.

To the contrary, black can look dirty with marks and dusts. Just like my cars, I prefer silver to black. In camera, scratches on black can be quite obvious, while scratches on chrome show only as 'bright" marks. I just bought a 40-year old plus chrome Leica M3, with very little marks. The base plate just shows some barely discernable bright marks. All my M's are chrome.

Chrome bodies will look great with both chrome or black lenses. It's not always the case the other way round.

Cheers,

It's a matter of taste & preference. I prefer the chrome lenses on black body rather than the other way around. My goodness, you must be confused
Just buy one that you like or whatever that's available! 30th June is not too far away! Quick!!

I was thinking of that too until I read this
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=378161

so, I think patience is virtue. Need to wait till summer/photokina and see what's that "significant - other than lenses for the M system"

who knows...an M8P (P = Perfection!)

I agree it's a question of taste. I happen to like my chrome lenses on my black Voigtlander Bessa T!! Strange indeed.

So many cameras, so little time to play with them.

On the contrary, there are also a lot of people that like the "brassy" old look of a beaten black M...it has its charm...
