Red face Settings + Questions for Canon 40D

Hi all,

Just got my Canon 40D and was playing with the camera for a few days already. There's one dropdown menu called "Camera 2" and there's many sophisicated and complicated functions inside there.

So i was wondering if i would be be required to do anything to the settings(eg. tweak the settings to get best out of my DSLR?)

Also, i heard some people going down to the Canon Service Center(CSC) and recalibrate their DSLR + lens. What is the use of it anyway. Some are faulty but some people are alright but they still do go down.

What I did is I went through the menu to familiarise myself with the camera. I customed a picture style to my liking and was ready to fly after that.

I did send my 40D to CSC but it's because I believe my model is suffering from a metering issue. If your body and lens is perfectly fine, why send it in at all? Like the much repeated story, would you jump off a building if someone else did as well?

edmwer.

read the manual. don't bother about sending in for calibrations unless you find something really wrong with either body or lens.

1. Quote a famous quote: "If it ain't broke don't fix it".

2. RTFM

3. Go out and shoot in the real world instead of spend time online reading pointless rumours about so called "problems". If the pics turn out fine, why even bother worrying?
