Plug it in, turn it on.
It should work. Change the custom function so that the flash doesn't automatically turn off. |

thks for your advice everybody.
i can get the flash firing off camera on a cord but hoped that by using the *wireless* skyport transmitter i could trigger the 580 and my strobe without using the cord. guess not? |

connect the receiver to strobe and set 580 to slave mode. btw, the skyport set come with a mini phone jet and a old model elinchrom jet, you need not buy additional cord when you use with elinchrom studio light, but if you want to use with 580, you need to get a cord with male mini phone jet and a pc sync jet. which is a third party accessory. |

You either need this: http://www.flashzebra.com/wizardcables/hotshoe.shtml
or this http://www.flashzebra.com/wizardcables/screwlock.shtml which are not available locally. |
