tamron 70-200 f2.8

Am now in KL and tried on the new lens here. Most shop selling just over RM3,000k and a reputable online shop selling RM2,800.

So for around S$1,200-S$1,300 you get a lens that is around the weight of canon 70-200 f4 and black in color. There is no image stabiliser and other stuff except the MF/AF . Comes with hood n tripod collar. Autofocus IMHO ok lah need a bit of hunting.

Tried to take some pic and must say first impression is that it is quite sharp but can't put in my pc to see as only using the shop's CF. Was trying it in megamall.

Without the IS I think with the weight it is managable. Nevetherless, jus to let you guys know it is here and yes you get f2.8 at a price cheaper than the canon 70-200 f4L IS.

Go check it out when it arrives in Singapore.

What is the price of the Nikon 80-200? It's a good 1.6-1.7k right? Do you think it's a better option?

Definitely go for nikon. 80-200 can get 1300 from HK

That's what i was thinking of too. Will be going to HK in June to get a telezoom f/2.8, either the Nikon 80-200mm or Tamron 70-200mm.

Didn't get to test it for long as they are lready closing when was there.

Even the tamron 17-50 f2.8 is quite attractively priced here in KL.

As for other canon stuff, I'll get in Singapore.

tested by a buddy here recently, sharper then canon 70-200/2.8 L and nikon 80-200/2.8 AFD

I will do a brief review on the lens once I got it from HK. So far, the reviews have been pretty good.
