Had a Vitacon 0.5x Wide Angle Converter.
It does produce vignetting at the widest end. Have to zoom in a little to eliminate it. Even when the vignetting is eliminated by zooming it. I noticed from the shot I took, the 2 sides of the image (left and right) there is some distortion and the buildings do not look as sharp as the ones in the centre of the image. Overall it is a budget Wide Angle, and I strongly suggest you bring your camera and MS, fit on the converters you want to buy, take some shots, and go back and review the shots on your PC, before deciding. If you have a laptop you can bring to the shop, download the images there and see the vignetting, distortions...etc for yourself to see if it really mattars to you. To some of us, a slight distortion is acceptable for the price they are paying, to others any thing less than perfect is a no-no. I do know SONY's converters both tele and wide angle have very good reviews, though they are on the expensive side. |

all these days I have been looking around
found these: 1) Olympus TCON17 but 52mm meaning vignetting 2) 3X Professional TC lens (horizoner) actually a 46mm means lagi more vignetting, must ZOOM all the way. 3) Canon telecon 58mm 1.7x but not very happy with the effects. Canon Wideangle 58mm also a disappointment....not meaning the quality but the price to pay for just getting that little amount of effect. |

the olympus TCON-14B & WCON-08B are both 62mm . They are actually mean for E10/20. With a step-down ring 62-58mm, both can also used for the 717. I am just wondering if both of this can be comparable to the sony's orginal.

The sony one is excellent, you won't regret getting it except that it is rather heavy.

has anyone tried the Nikon 1.5x convertor? quality is good and cost about $250. Should have no problem getting it at $210++ .
I only favour 2X convertor ... too bad! |

I bought my Sony TC at $340 at CP 2 weeks back.
Never ask for the price of the Wide Angle. |
