Default Canon EF 300mm f/4.0L USM

Anyone using or have used the above lens before? Specifically the non IS version. Would like to know how is its sharpness, pic quality, focusing speed, handling etc. Also its approximate cost. Thanks in advance.

I used it on D30, very fast focus. It become 480mm!
I took a moon pic, but image still small.
Any one going to bird park or Zoo?

Wow finally a response! Do u own the lens now? Or was it borrowed? IS version? Also, how much u paid for it. Thanks!

Bravehart: Thanks for lending me the lens to play with that day, eheheh. Still thinking whether or not to get it. Hopefully can meet up again sometime soon (maybe go zoo/birdpark or something...keke..) Wanna test out the lens again.

Thanks for the info, SniperD. I read from some review sites that the IS version of this particular lens is not as sharp and contrasty as the non-IS version, is that true anot? (BTW ur image cannot see...there's a red "x" instead)

Sure u can be my friend...but...see my response to munfai above...ehhehe

Well...that depends on whether I will be getting the lens or not...still considering coz its quite pricey too (need to save up for it first!)...was considering between this one and the Sigma 50-500mm...but leaning a little more to this one.

Yup can see the pic liao...how come the background so grainy? U scanned from film/slide? Anyways looks quite good...it is sharp. (the image looks a bit overexposed to me, but thats just me... )

Thanks for sharing

meaning @ 300mm, the sharpness is there @ its peak when used @ f4 - f11

Paisay, typed too fast, thinking of the 70-200 IS with 1.6 factor.. heh heh heh
