i have a manfrotto 055 3 section tripod in my storeroom
and a 4 section gitzo 1541T to carry around where ever i go

a sturdy/heavy tripod in the storeroom will not hold your camera still

btw the main reason is i am getting old already and don't want to carry the big tripod anymore
so buy small and sturdy one to bring around

    4 section since I'm using a Manfrotto 055MF4 (mag-fiber) and RC4 ballhead.
No issues so far while using it. Its a very good tripod which is stable, flexible, portable and lightweight.

I went the same was as Rubber_Duck too. Between the 3 or 4 sections, the additional 8-10 cm for a 3 section didn't bother me as much as the weight difference + maximum height the tripod can reach without extending the center column.

I didn't think that there would be anyone who would use a 5 sectioned with his/her camera with long lenses..
    If there are..
    My apologies to you.

    No apologies needed.

Just hoping that someone here would have experiences to share on 5-section tripods like those from the Benro Travel Angel Series.

Me too. I chose 3-section because there is less to lock and unlock.

I hate twist locks and have always preferred fliplocks - until I met Gitzo's G-Lock/ALR system. Since that day I have been a convert. I'll choose fliplocks every time, except for G-Lock/ALR I am almost as fast with G-Lock as I am with the fliplocks.

However, 4-section has its place. For those who have the misfortune to experience airline travel (speaking as someone who has flown a hundred thousand miles too many), 4-section is the way to go. I am recommending 4-section to a friend of mine who expects to travel extensively.

Me.... I'm sticking around here, so 3-section is just fine!

i choose 3 legs. easier to handle. with 3 legs i already felt so clumsy. even thinking of getting a monopod.
