Has anyone tried the 5050 with a Metz external flash unit (32 MZ-3)? Any feedback on it? Price?
I understand that Metz makes compatible ext. flash units for almost all brands, so I am trying to find out just how good it is compared with the FL40, and also how competitive the price is. Thanks in advance! ![]() |

but confirm it can work if attch with a SCA 3202 adaptor, specially for olympus camera. We will be having a test out on this 32mz-3 flash on this coming friday(15/08/03)at peniz. plaza same place where usually the SEED meeting point is. Anyone interested can drop in, I'm getting my SCA 3202 adapoter with me, than 1 of our guy will bring along his 32mz-3 flash, those who want to know wherther it works on ur camera, can drop by to test la. I'm conducting a MASS Order for this flash, for an attractive price so if anyone interested can have a look at this: http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=41742 Detail and everything u need to know Well, still cheaper than a FL-40, $600!!! 32mz-3 + SCA adaptor = ard $340 $600-$340 =$240 cheaper ![]() |

I have determined that most digital cameras are able to accept flashes that have a low trigger voltage. What I mean by this is that if you use a flash with a high trigger voltage, it will damage your camera.
To check the trigger voltage of your external flash, you must have a digital or analog voltmeter. And once the flash has been turned on, connect the leads of the voltmeter to the terminals of the flash. The values I have obtained are: Metz 45ct-5 14volts (handle mount) Achiever 115s 50volts (hot shoe mount...very small) Pentax flash 5 volts (medium sized hot shoe flash) I have used all these flashes and have not had any problems....yet...however, I am aware that the solenoid inside the camera will burn out....and is very expensive to fix. A maximum acceptable voltage to use an external flash is around 24volts. But I try to stay at a lower value like 6volts. by the way, the amount of voltage does not mean that the flash will be bigger...if your curious. You can get an adapter that will reduce the voltage for around $60. I hope this helps. |
