Depending on the brand/make.
you can refer to the following site for brand and pricing. http://www.digideep.com/english/digi...n/D80/25/2567/ Not to forget, you will have to get additional acessories to complete the setup. e,g arms, strobes, port... |

as a rough guide, i think ikelite is the cheapest housing around.
prices are roughly: housing = us$1.4k 6 inch dome port = us$200 2 ds125 strobes = 2x US$1.1k macro port = us$200 grand total = too damn much go check www.ikelite.com. they have all the prices listed. oh, in the sailing community, we have this saying...if you gotta ask how much the boat is, you probably can't afford it. haha you can try getting secondhand sets they're probably cheaper. You can try oceanic focus. Ikelite is good and cheap amongst all the housing. Can start with macro with one strobe and slowly build up your equipment.

I think the housing material is the bulk of a cost in a housing. The aluminium type are much better but they cost more.

Welcome to the world where the U/W housing & strobe can cost more than the camera/lens itself

Hi, I am a newbie here. Just visited digideep.com, and noticed DSLR cameras like D40, 60, 80. Have UW housing for them.
Always thought only camera with "Live View" can use for UW photography. If without it, how is the setup like? Can we still aim through viewfinder, cause we wearing dive-mask? Curious to know... Thks. ![]() |

Use of view finder a bit tricky but can be done, many had done it before, with good pictures to show. I've personally seen H2O (Phua)/Tigerkai (Wyatt) even doing it DIR style, maintaining trim & finning backwards to focus, no stainless steel pointers/fingers pushing the rocks. Impressed! I've also seen a diver's (forgot the name, but remembered her as a dental surgeon) picture on a Nikon magazine. She used a Nikon DSLR, again, non Live View. Tony Wu uses Canon DSLR, & of course no Live View. There is usually a magnifier on the U/W housing for the view finder. Last edited by foxwagon; 14th June 2008 at 09:15 PM. |

Foxwagon, thanks for your infos... Finally i just found the picture of the housing, it has some sort of "live view" which is in the housing.
May be the magnifier you mentioned, but with the price of that housing due to it's compricated built, it's exp... I can buy a compact cam & housing with that $$$$.... ![]() Thanks ![]() Last edited by kamikaze; 14th June 2008 at 10:02 PM. |

I'm not familiar with the Nikon systems. Currently Olympus & Canon has live views with their respective U/W housings. |

Hi there, I am selling an Ewa Marine Housing cheap. This is the flexible plastic type but is rated to 155 ft. Bidding from $650 in the buy and sell forum. Tested it out on 2 dives to over 20m. Bought it out of curiousity and never used since then. Let me know if you are interested.
