You can buy bronica system from TCW or Ruby photo. I saw some new ETRSi at ruby the other day. You can get 2nd hand ones from TCW. I have an SQ A completed with 3 lenses, 50mm, 80mm and 135mm. Comes with 2 6x6 backs, 1 6x4.5 back and a polaroid back. I am thinking of upgrading. If you are interested, please quote me a price and you can view it. I should say this first. Cosmetic wise.... not very fantastic. Say 7/10. However, the photos that comes out of it...... I should say 10/10 depending on your composition!!!

Thanks for the offer, I might just take a look although I'm in the process of saving up for it.

Hi guys, I am thinking of buying a used/new MF camera and would like your help. Can anyone tell me why i should invest in it (MF camera) and are there any reasons if i should buy Bronice ETRSi over Mamiya or Hassey? |

in my mind, buy the largest film format 6x7 or 6x6 as you can always use a 645 back of you want that format. you can never get anything larger than 645 on a ETRsi or Mamiya 645. next the lens. but really at 6x6, even a seagull takes good and sharp pictures.

6x4.5 and 6x6 cameras are considerably smaller and lighter than 6x7 cameras. Also lenses are most of the time cheaper.
If you need to use flash it is better to get lenses with built-in shutters (like Bronica, Rollei and Hasselblad), so that you can use all shutter speeds for fill-in in daylight etc. Most cameras nowadays (except Pentax 645) have interchangeable backs which makes it easier for you to change films. If you work mostly with tripods and don't mind the weight, 6x7 cameras are better choices for a reason mentioned before (Mamiya has revolving backs which is also a plus). Maybe there are other considerations, but these are what comes into my mind right now. No ned to take digital backs into considerations unless you can afford it. Hong Sien |
