like the relaxed look of the surfer in the first picture. sad though, the coastline is so dirty.

Default AF or MF?

Hi,

the first shot is nice!

just windering which AF mode you used?

I was there shooting too...tried the AF-servo mode...nearly consistantly OOF..

also had problems with subject underexposed.

any advise?

i like the 1st and last pic. cuz the boarder looks like she's doing a matrix stunt in the last pic.

is it digitally taken?

bummer: i'm not sure but if subject underexposed cud be due to using evaluative and in bright sunlight and reflective water, the camera is 'fooled' by the bright surrounding so it will adjust such that the exposure is 'correct' for the brightness thus your subject is underexpose.

either u expose for the subject or u meter the darker regions (maybe half reflective water, half shaded water) so u get a nice average.

I could be wrong here but i'm trying to learn and share. take it with big pinch of salt thanks.

do correct me if i'm wrong thanks.

Thanks Kei, still can't beat ur shots! I guess its the softness issue on D30.

Thanks sehsuan, GitS, bummer and neuro for ur kind comments!

Gits, I think yesterday was the last one.

Bummer, yes i used ai-servo and i think that neuro is correct on the exposure explanation.

now i notice what's different in the first pic - the surfer's wearing colour-coordinated lifevest and shorts!

Well captured shots! I like the first pic, well exposed.
The last one could be the best, but the sun reflection on the water is a bit harsh.

Good images here are only spoilt by the polluted background.
