Default HID Lamp

Anybody used this kind of lamp before? http://www.uwkinetics.com/product/5

Powerful enough to act as a constant light for photography?

yes ive used one. Good constant light for macro but very harsh hence pics turn out very burnt. No warmth. Also you cant turn it on and off too often or the bulb will blow.

My recommendation would be Fisheye's Fix Light HG20DX video light.

Bright! Decent burn time. Good colour temp. Very even, no hotspot. Very small and hence handles well underwater. And has adjustment brightness. Can be mounted on housing. nuff said. Buy it! =)

Nevertheless the best one is still this if budget is not a constraint:
