it fluctuates throughout the day because of the relative humidity between day and night.

if you were to tell me that it fluctuates between 50+ and 30+ within a few seconds, then its time to call the distributor

It might fluctuate a little everytime you open and close the dry cabinet, but after a while the RH should be stable.

If you open the door, it is possible and if the door is closed all the time, it should not fluctuate this much, may by within +-2% due to change in the temperature as RH is a function of wet and dry bulb temperature. Your should call Digihub if the latter is the case.

By the way, which position did you leave the knob? The best setting for camera should be between 45% to 55%, to be safer set to the lower end of the range. Very low RH is not good for the rubber seals and grease of the camera and lenses.

Sorry Guys for moving up again this thread, since its topic is on accuracy.

My goal is to fix it at 50% RH but I have problem on achieving this. Here’s the
Scenario, my dry cabinet will stay on my desired RH for few days (2-3 days), but on the
Next day (3-4th day), the RH will start again to decrease by 1-2% and the decreasing will continue on the following days. So I need to open the door to “stabilize” again to 50%.

My concern is, what if I leave for a month (e.g. business trip). Any one of you encounters similar scenario? Any advice?

By the way, I’m using 50L manual control (dial control) dry cabinet.

    Thnks!

I think you might want to try increasing the knob's setting of the RH as perhaps it was originally set very low, but your opening and closing causes some changes. You might want to remove all equipment inside it, leave it untouched for a week and see what's the stabilised RH and make adjustments from there.

    Thanks tSkye for the advice!
This was my routine couple of months now
the knob on my dry cabinet was set between 10 and 11 o’clock.
I guess I need to restart again for further fine tune.

    I'm using a Digi-Cabi and it's around 9, to get a RH of exactly 50%

Hi everybody i think this is my first post...

Anyway, I always thought lower is better. I have an ancient dry cab which i set to medium but i also dump in those "rechargeable" packs of silica gel. I have 3 packs so my RH can go as low as 25%

now it seems like it's not good. will there be any damage? I'm trying to open and close the door until the humidity rises to about 40% at least

I was thinking lower is good cos i don't use my equipment everyday. maybe twice a week on average

If the RH is too low, you will dry out the rubber on the lens and it will start to crack. That's of course, after a very long time in storage.

does it affect the function or merely aesthetics?

i have underwater housing inside there as i don't want fungus to grow on the glass port.. but maybe i should remove the O rings and store them outside.

do flashes need to be kept in dry cabi?
