Default Which Backpack?

Hi, I am looking for a backpack. I am quite satisfied by the capacity of the mini trekker AW. However, its back support is made of foam, seems like quite soft.

May I know are there any bags that have around the same capacity as the mini trekker AW but has a stronger and tougher back support.

I have see NG medium backpack, but its camera housing space seems a bit small...

I got a fastpack 200 recently for a trip because I wanted a backpack. Size of a normal back pack. Lower compartment for camera gear can take 4 lenses and 1 body easily + some filters. I like the easy access from the side.... makes taking and keeping the camera really easy. Top compartment can throw in lots of rubbish that you want to bring along when you walk about to snap your photos. Well fitted and comfortable to carry around.

May I know does those thinktank bags have hard back support that are not made of foam like all lowepro bags? Is the base of the bag tough? Lastly, where may I buy those bags?

Thanks

You can have a look at them at TK Foto. I have the Antidote, and while I cannot say it's the firmest back support, I think it is firmer than the mini-trekker, and it was one of the factors I considered before purchasing this. It can also hold a ton of stuff, while not being much larger than the mini-trekker in profile. Two reasons why this is so is because the bag is deeper, and not curved at the top.

Any idea on the price of it? Any idea what is the back support made of?

Thanks a lot. But thinktank bags seem to be a lot more expensive than the mini trekker AW.

Yes they are. TBH when you buy a ThinkTankPhoto bag, you're basically investing in a camera storage system. The Glass taxi for example, can have a belt added to it. The belt can hold different sizes of ThinkTank belt-storage packs. The back of the glass taxi can fit another smaller sized pack which can store the camera body, while the inside of the glass taxi alone can store something like a 300mm f/2.8... yeah, they're versatile. Their professionalism also shines in their original website-- they always put the customer first.

Actually I was just looking for a backpack for current use. I did not think so far as to whether I will add those stuff, which I think is very unlikely. Actually a strong back support is more important to me. It is not very comfortable when your back support of the bag flex when carrying heavy stuff..

May I know did anyone using the mini trekker AW experience the back support of the bag flexing?

I think the supports of all backpacks, when packed full, will flex. Furthermore, your Computrekker has the laptop compartment between the cam compartment and the back, which means an extra layer of padding. If you are already experiencing flexing with this, what more the Mini Trekker?

I am using the KATA R103. (http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pi...d=4&ProdLine=4)

A pretty good quality bag.

yup i have the Kata R103 too. great back support and feels very comfortable on the back compared to crumpler (very poor) and lowepro (too blocky).

Hi, I have seen many people buying backpacks that only have the lower part dedicated to putting camera equipments. Given that the available space of the bag to put camera equipments are not large,I still do not understand why people are still buying them as if you do not need that much space to put your camera stuff, might as well buy a smaller bag.

Example of such bags would be the NG backpacks and the Tamrac Adventure 9.

Those bags are mainly for people who go on hikes. They may not bring a whole lot of camera stuffs and they also need their food, water, clothing etc. Can't say the same for Lowepro's CompuDayPack though.

Actually, I was thinking of buying a backpack that I can used during my uni days but also can store camera. But still deciding. For me, it is more pertinent that the bag is able to contain a laptop and camera stuff.

CompuDayPack may seem to fit your needs. However, I don't like the way the camera compartment opens up and the backpack is too bulky.
