Default IR with the Sigma SD14

These are my first attempts at IR with the Sigma SD14. The IR filter used was the Ilford SFX 200.
Unlike other DSLRs, the Sigma could be modded for IR shooting by simply popping out the IR blocking filter from the camera body. When done with IR shooting, just pop back in the IR blocking filter and the camera is ready for normal colour shooting again.

The IR images from the SD14 is almost completely monochromatic as there is very little if any information in the Blue and Green channels. So no coloured IR from the SD14 unfortunately. And it is not possible to carry out Custom White Balance with the SD14 during IR photography. Also, the Automatic exposure don't work though the autofocus does. So I had used the Manual exposure mode with settings of f/11 and 1/125s in these pics as recommended in the article 'Easy IR With Sigma SD14' in the May 08 issue of Shutterbug.

Should be ~ $1,200.
But you not actually buying an IR camera... you are buying a normal colour DSLR that is user inter-convertible for both normal colour and IR photography.

It is probably the only IR camera that let you take IR photos at ISO 50 at small apertures and high shutter speeds. Examples...

1/160s f/11.0 at 105.0mm ISO 50

#9

1/160s f/11.0 at 105.0mm ISO 50

#10

1/160s f/11.0 at 18.0mm ISO 50
