Default Ants and Spiders

Hi Guys,

Went to chinese garden and took some photos...
Taken with 350D + Tamron 90mm + ST-E2 + 420EX + Flash Diffuser.

Appreciate if you could give some constructive comments...

#1 don't work for me, cos I am not sure what I am looking at.

Like the rest. Good focus on eyes.

2,3,4,5 excellent color contrast, sharpness and composition

1 is interesting but not so impressive

On the contrary, I like #1. But I can't see any larvae though.

It's an ant nest, I think of the carpenter ants. Or something like that la. Some ants build their nests by sewing leaves together. The picture is blur because the ends of the leaves are covred with silk.

Saw something like that at Kranji Nature Trail yesterday too, but the angle was too weird for me to focus and shoot properly.

Thanks for the comments tchuanye, cannotshoot, mtunlinn, karnage.

Bro karnage is right, pic #1 is an 'ant nest'.
I cannot see the ants inside the leaves (because both end covered by the silk). So, I set the focus at the centre of the leaves and put the flash on top of it to get some lights.

This is the first try on the same leaves.
