What we really need is for some Oly advocates to be on the forums which judge these awards. Like it or not, there is always some partiality in these kind of things. If all things being equal in two cameras, hypothetically, the person's favourite brand will be viewed more favourably. It is just perception.
Unfortunately, the market penetration by Oly is not as great as the N and C, so that by itself, will mean that less likely people who are into judging these awards will more likely be N and C users or advocates. In any case, I think I can believe that the D3 is top pro grade DSLR. I like the camera, from the limited amount of time I had playing with it. It really really feels that good....although it is larger, heavier, and more more expensive than the E3. In fact, I liked it way more than the feel of the Canon 1D. That I can say for sure. As for A200 as best entry level DSLR? Hmmm....I thought the E510 should have won that. In any case, we dun really know lar. And one final thing, if the E3 was judged, or if it had won in one category, which category would they have put it in? Advanced? Expert? Or Professional??

Does it matter whether the item win any prize? Will you buy or not buy it, whether the item win or not win any prize?
One person I know said that Olympus technology is dated and asked why did I buy Olympus of all brands. I mean I dun care what other people think man, it is not as if they are going to use the camera. Why should I spend my money according to what other people say? So what if the expert SLR body wins a prize? Buy according to one's needs, not what other people's needs to see a Canon / Nikon / Sony / Pentax / Fujifilm on it. I hope it rains on my June trip to Malaysia, where I will expect 1 other Sony user and another Nikon user. May be going to Kashmir or Hokkaido in December, again will show them why I spent $2.5k on the body alone. |

I'd be suspicious of the Sony and Canon body awards but the Nikon D300 and D3 deserve awards.
Olympus have a few awards for lenses, though I'm surprised that the 14-35mm wasn't there. Perhaps, they didn't get one to test?

Well, the E510 actually has won a bunch of awards when it was released. I think 8 or so.

I don't think it was released in time for TIPA, probably next year.
