Default My very first attempt on IR ...

Hi All,

Learned something about IR photography from the forum, especially those sticky threads. But never really attempted any until this past Sunday. I got this IR converted Pentax K100D camera from a friend, mounted on a DA21 lens. Took the following shots at SBG over the weekend:

There are some of my very first tries. Still feel kind weird about the strange color of IR photos. Hope I'd get better after some more prastice.

Thanks for viewing, and hope you'd like some of these

fengwei - what filter was used to convert? doesn't really look like hoya r72, but that could depend on the weather (looks very cloudy/overcast here), and whether you desaturated yellow color/red color during pp

i quite like #2, and there are a lot of good shots here

It's a 760nm IR filter. It's a overcast day. I forgot to readjust the WB (my friend already adjusted it in Beijing, but I should've done anther one base on our weather here ), ended up the color was abit strange, abit cool/blueish after the channel mixture. I had to add some red and yellow tune to warm them up abit. But seems they still look abit too cool

Next time I'd do MWB again and see how.

BTW, check your pm

ah, that would explain the lack of differentation in color cast.. just one uniform block across the entire screen, overcast weather tends to do that to IR..

also less glowing foliage, sky not so nice.. ir depends a lot on sunlight i guess.

Thanks again for the tips, hope I'd do better next time.

Hi fengwei, Welcome.

Such results from first time IR is promising. What you need is to shoot more and play around more with pp. You may not get very much variations from the 760nM filter but still can experiment.
