No lah, lens built in and LCD also supposed to be included in the package. So only have to buy the lens hood/matte box, handle, extra battery and Red CF cards. Shouldn't be more than thrice the base price
![]() Oh and not forgetting, if you dun have FCP, another S$2.4k... |

Then you'll also start to realise that not many companies in Singapore projects 2k or 4k materials......and that you need to spend like UK50,000 pounds to buy a DCI compliant authoring system so that you can feed materials into the cinema servers.
End up you spend so much money on a RED or Scarlet with a high end post production system and use for down-convert to normal SD or HD deliveries for jobs like corporates, events & weddings where clients will forever tell you that they have no budget..... ![]() And worse is the papers have been raving about a boost in the media industry... ![]()

How the hell they obtained that much technology for sensors, interface, and even lens? With capability of DSLR, this is going to threaten mainstream camera makers, which ultimately benefits consumers.

actually Canon and Sony alr has the capability to give us high end video cams with EF/Nikon/Sony Lens compatibility. I guess they have to protect their products otherwise from technology viewpoint, they can already do it. Hence the EOS5D Mkii. Just hope that RED's development will force the big guys to do something. In fact the Sony Z7 mini B4 mount is supposed to have an adapter that will allow it to work with Sony DSLR lenses

Is it available in Singapore yet ?
My views would be to rent it instead of buying. Try before buy. You'll never know the workflow yet til you start and tested out and finish a product. It's a highly well marketed product, but not much hardwares and softwares support for this RED format yet. To me, the overated RED wants to hit the prosumer-low budget genre and appears as "Why need CineAlta, 35mm, 65mm Arri, Panavision etc etc when we have RED for a fraction of the price that shoots 2k/4k resolution? " Well, someone has to rent it and have it tested out during production and post production whether it's a pain, or breeze. Dixon, have you by chance worked with RED format on post production? maybe can share with us? Sorry to be quite skeptical on this product. |

Having had the pleasure of being one of the first to handle the camera locally, I'd still stick with my Ex-1. The workflow not something a prosumer setup can handle easily but I'm sure the next version of Final Cut and Premier Pro will make it easier to work with the files. |
