Saw this cat when I was testing a 35mm macro lens, took some pretty close photos (consider they were taken by a 35mm lens ...). Hope you like them.

After a while, we got along pretty well, so I could get really close to it. The front glass almost touched its nose when I took the following shot:

Any lens would be good to take cat photos. But most people use longer ones so cats won't be scared away. This was the first time I got so close to take photos of a street cat, and a 35mm macro lens worked perfectly. A 50mm lens certainly is capable of taking similar or better photos too, but the perspective might be different Why not give it a try and see how it turns out? Cheers and happy shooting. |

A piece of friendly advice, next time you see a cat on a car. Shoo it off the car. It's for its own good. Many car owners hate the fact that cats sit on their car and claim that cats scratch their paintwork. Some cats have had been caught by pest control as a result of such owners who complained to Town Council. So help the cats out by shooing them off the car. It will save their lives.
