Default D300 8fps without grip?

has anyone tried this with the d300 by changing some settings.

Set e5 and e6 to "flash only"
Assign FUNC + dial to bracketing
Assign FUNC to bracketing burst
Set the shutter release to "S" (single shot)
Set your bracket to 9F to get a burst of 9 shots

Then you just hold FUNC and press the shutter to get 9 shots @ 8fps. Release and re-press to get another burst.

Sounds complicated except that I don't use bracketing where I wouldn't have time to re-set e5 and e6 in the menus, and I just leave the bracket on 9F. So, for daily use, all I have to do to get an 8fps burst is set the shutter release to "S" and hold FUNC when I shoot.

You can customize at whim. e5 and e6 just make sure that the same exposure is used between shots (if you're not using the flash). The key is mostly setting it to bracketing, single shot mode, and using bracket burst to shoot.

1 with the above describe.
Hold on to FUNC button and S shot. the camera reapond with 8 FPS
But MAX 8 FPS only. the camera will not continue after 8FP.

How do you put the 8AA batteries in without the grip?

the test is done with Grip on,

1st with 1 ENEL3e battery in the Grip
next , I try using 2 Enel3e ( 1 in the grip, 1 in the camera)
Lastly, I change out the 1 in the grip to 8 AA battery, and lastly, I took the grip OFF , using the battery in the camera.

It works , all 3 methods shows that with the mentioned configuration. D300 can hit 8FPS (Even without Grip)

I believe many who have read this will skip buying the grip, saving few handred bucks, not to mention the cost of buying the battery, Ask Lords about the price for battery - $250
For me, it a size preference, The fitting w/o the grip is too small for me.

oyay! definitely go back to try it out, even though i seldom even use the 6fps. scared too trigger-happy until no space available for later shoots.

as for the grip, dun think anyone will stop buying it la, cos of the limitation of 8 or 9 fotos for each shutter press only, and also for other reasons too.

and nikon might even come out with a new firmware to fix this 'bug'.

Do you all use Rechargeable AAs or those energizer Li batts for the battery grip? Or it doesnt matter.

How does the 8 AA batteries fare against Nikon's original battery? Which one is more lasting if it were to run on the same shooting practices?
