Default Nikon Flash Repair

Need help guys!

My Nikon flash died on me recently. It's an SB-24 so its quite old. Anyone knows where I can send it for repairs other than NSC?

Symptoms:

Totally dead...no whining sound.when I switched it on it doesn't power up and nothing shows up on the LCD. Totally dead.
Changed the batteries a dozen of times, still the same.

Need help guys!

I think NSC is the best bet. Why not just bring the flash to them and let their technicians have a look... before you decide what you want to do with the SB24.

Check the on-off switch too. Sometimes the contacts are oxidised, you can spray a little (a little) contact cleaner onto the switch.

I suspect the capacitor inside is spoilt/burnt, does not hold charge anymore.

It's available in a compressed spray can form, most big electrical shops should sell it. I'd suggest you remove all batteries, spray the contact cleaner, slide the switch a few times, and allow the cleaner liquid to dry up first, before putting the batteries in again to test.

Does the batteries get hot previously? Doesn't sound like a good sign...

Yes i have a SB-24. Recently, it does not hold its charge anymore making the "A" mode useless wondering anyone experienced similar thing?

Anything i can do to rectify the problem? or will i be better off getting another flash?
