Default Help! D300's shooting bank!

Help! I am confused with the shooting bank functions.

I am aware that the shooting bank top of the screen refers to the different settings u can put in from A to B.

Then what the heck is custom shooting bank?

Both seems to be the same in the guide book.

Its really just different "memories" or banks as Nikon likes to call it.

These are presets of the settings in the custom menu, u know the menu with abcdef? The third menu, that is the "Custom Shooting Menu" and bank.

The 2nd menu, the one above custom shooting menu, is the shooting menu bank...

Its just two menus of different settings and their respective preset memories.

As melvinchen was trying to explain; there are 2 x ABCD banks of settings.

1st one, top row ABCD, refers to the settings in the "SHOOTING MENU", the one with the Picture Control, Active D-Lighting, Live View, etc.

2nd one, 2nd row ABCD, refers to the settings in the "CUSTOM SETTING MENU", with all the settings of [a] autofocus, [b] metering/exposure, [c] timers/AE Lock, ... until [f] Controls.

The first item of both Shooting menu and the Custom Settings menu is where you select which bank (ABCD) to use for that particular menu.

I wished there'd been a button+dial to change these easily. In the absence of one, I found using "My Menu" more effective at changing the settings I need to in a jiffy.

HTH.

Thanks you made it much clearer!

So to make sure I get right, I could be shooting with A on the top panel and on the bottom panel could be using the at of setting paired with it ya?

the top bank controls the pic settings, the bottom bank controls the camera functions like AF and other watnots. it is really up to you. you could have 2-3 different pic settings but only 1 custom controls.

there are a couple of excel spreadsheets floating ard the net, particularly on nikonians.org, on some of the more common settings. you can google for it.
