I notice that the lamps have some wierd blue and pink flow around them. I took the picture in raw + basic. Even the basic Jpeg have the same issue.
![]() I am using a D70s with 70-300mm lense withour filter with hood on. Shutter: 1/4 Aperture: 4.2 focal length at 95mm ISO 200 Can anyone advise what causes it? Is it normal? Thank you. |

Try to check and tweak the white balance on your RAW file using any software that can modify the RAW file..such as Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop, or probably using the Nikon bundled software
.... I think that is using the cooler white balance around 3000-3500...makes the tungsten light at the Fullerton Hotel become whiteAs an advice take the picture in aperture 8 or 11 for the sharpness if you are using tripod..cheers

I have tried tweaking the WB/ However, it does not resolve the issue of the blue and pink ring around the light source.

I think its because the lens is wide open..f4.2 makes some fringing of purple and pinky around source of light... try shooting with bigger f...like 8 - 11 ...I also ever counter something like that but in f1.2 opening...hope this help
That happen because of the spectrum of colors ...

mmm. So i guess it cannot be helped. I can only buy a better lens to reduce the effect.

Try to shoot other light object first at night using different aperture value starting from biggest opening till 8 or 11 and notice the difference, if it still happening the consider to buy better lens

mmm I have tried using the smallest aperture with long shutter of about 30 sec. but I realise the the burntout of the light source area also increase. However, there will be no such issue. I guess I'll try using a middle range of the aperture again as well to try to balance it.

8 to 11 would be enough actuallly...but the lamp will shape more like a star..
