Whale Sharks From Donsol

Hi All,

Just returned from snorkeling with the Whale Sharks in Donsol. Tiring but definitely an awesome experience.

Some pictures to share and all constructive criticisms are most welcome.

Pictures are taken using Ilford XP2.

OMG !! That Whale Shark must be one of those Biggie.... beyond 10Metres type.

Love #9 & #10..... gives you a good guess how big the Whale Shark is.

Biggest donsol whale sharks in donsol is 12m if im not wrong.

did you see them in schools? how's the vis?

not exactly in schools.........the most I have seen at one time is 2 of them.........vis is not good at about 5-7m..........

not bad lah i see about 1 whale shark at a time in sogod

but vis better 10-15m, how ever this year the group went said they didn't see, not sure about the later group

No, lah, they didnt order "ba-luk", embryo egg, a Pinoy specialty.

Nice pics!..particularly a change from the colour ones that I am use to seeing. Really bring out the spots/strips on the whale shark.

Oh no....heading to Leyte in a couple of weeks and the last I heard, they have been seeing many whale sharks for the past two months (according to the dive operator). Hopefully he aint pulling my leg. SIGH!

Thank you for the kind wishes. Have checked with the resort and apparently, you are right. They have not seen them in quite awhile. Hopefully they will find them soon, when I am there. Cheers

wow! nice shots u have here..these creatures were really awesome.One of our prides in our place in the Philippines. By the way,ure lucky that you've come close to the whale sharks (and almost have touched them),coz when we went there recently, we didn't see anyone of them.Just a wrong timing i guess.
Anyways i hope you've enjoyed your visit in Donsol. It was just a two- hour drive from my house,and it's really a nice place to go.

Nice set of Whale sharks or locally called "Butanding". Hope to do that again sometime.

Did you try diving the "Manta bowl"? The 2 hour boat ride from Donsol? Saw a feeding frenzy of whale sharks there a couple of years back while doing our SI.

thanks.....did not go to the Manta Bowl as was told that vis was bad....have heard nice things about the site, would like to try it next time if conditions is good.....

hehe,i'm already based here in Singapore workin...i go to Donsol ,Sorsogon whenever i have time on my vacations and to visit my former classmates there.We don't dive actually but just go there and eat and drink! lots of very yummy food (seafoods)
