Hi all, i am thinking of getting this macro lens. was previously using the old non VR version.
Is this new VR lens worth the upgrade? |

I shot side by side my AFS and my friend's AF-D and i missed the light weight of the AF-D the most.
If u need the aperture ring, the lighter weight ( almost 2/3 the weight of the AF-S ), the smaller diameter, the opportunity to mount on ur really old film bodies, the older 105mm is still the way to go. Optically they are both performers. The VR and the AF-S is a boon for non macro purposes. Ryan Last edited by giantcanopy; 6th April 2008 at 10:35 PM. |

i had this lens
infact i had 105 and 105vr both are super sharp 105 af is fast 105vr af is faster but if 105vr misses the focus, sometimes it hunts one big round and stops prematurely [image not focus at all] then got to half-press again to start the focusing again this focusing issue isnt a problem since most micro shooters use mfLast edited by slooow; 7th April 2008 at 03:07 AM. |

I find that the AF for the non vr is very fast.
