![]() Behind the glamourous Eslpanade, the whole of Singapore for that matter, there are many unsung heros, doing their bits to maintain the prestigious title of "The Garden City". Could it be they feel inferior or they are told to keep out of sight by the companies, most of the time we dont notice them. Than again, it could be us how are oblivious to our surrounding. With the non-stop increasing of living standard, i cant help but to imagine they are struggling very hard to keep their head above the raising water.

yes, he is resting.
but i am more concern with the kind of attitude people has against them. how often have you heard parents using them as examples if the kids dont study hard. non-stop mopping of the toilets floor with people still using it. raising standard of living, i can barely keep up with it. imagine them, low income, worst if sick with "old people illness" that cause $$$$. seen a current affair show in channel 8, the old lady had to climb flights of stairs with her leg problem just because if she spend money on transport, she has no money for her medications.

I think it is not a matter of unsightly or disgrace. When I was working as a chef at Compass Rose then Equinox, we were told not to let customers fall sight on us on the restaurant floor. No doubt we are not unsightly or disgraceful but it is just how the company policy works.
Come to think about it, without the lower flight of ladder we won't be able to climb to the top of it. These people are the basis of our everyday necessities and yes, without them, we will suffer. Imagine no one to clear our rubbish chute, no one to clear our sewage etc. Yet again without the top flight of ladder, we won't be able to make it to the top as well. So pardon those office ladies and so-called, "high class people". Yes although I can visualize clearly the sight of a hunch backed greyed hair grandma mopping the floor while a lady dressed in the grandma's monthly salary but, that's the way life is... ![]()

we all know how parents always say dont end up a roadsweeper etc and we too joke about that. some people walk past the garbage cleaners and fan around their nose in full view of the cleaners, not bothering that those are the very people who take up the job so clean up their waste. of course prostitutes is not a great profession but to some, i believe there are more sincere reasons in doing in other than for the joy and pleasure. i'm sure some are honestly in desperation of money. its the sincere one that i hope there is one. this is just a random thought that i brainstormed i could venture into, wonder if it could ever be realised haha hope i clarify on that point bro! that it is more on the jobs that most singaporeans would not do and at the same time, some would par as a job that portray them as unsung heroes, others perhaps not in the better light. but to drive to the main point that there are these people out there who brave the stereotypical view of them and hang on to that job as their source of livelihood. cheers! ![]() |
