Default newbie's first shot of sunrise

my very first shot with my new camera

i'm a total newbie to photography..

shot taken with f/8.0 shutter 1/100, iso 100.

    UV filter + circ-polariser used.

    the buildings were darkened deliberately.

    taken from my house window.

    pls give comments, thanks

Nice sunset, the sky is not too washed out, good effort !
Here are a few points that i'll like to comment

    1) tired not to place your sun in the center, it makes the composition looks boring. Try to follow the rules of third.
    2) you can wait for the sun to dip a bit lower in the sky before taking the photo. As the sun dips lower, the sky will become redder. This'll make it more dramatic
    3) This is personal preference, but i'll prefer a bigger sun :P
    4) This silhuollete of the buildings arent clear euff as they are all of the same level. There is also too much dark forground, try zomming in next time if possible.

    Good effort. Continue shooting!!!

    Hi.

That's a decent attempt of your shot in sunrise... i find this shot a tad muted and compositonally, abit dull. I don't mean to be offensive but it could have been composed better (ie. rules of 3rd) and at the same time, the sky and the clouds aren't exactly stunning (but that isn't your fault) but no worries... keep trying.

    And of course, keep shooting.
