I am actually looking for a light tent and a set of lights. So, I take it that something like this would be too much to pay?

I have no time to DIY a light tent and lights. Where is the best place to buy a decent setup for a decent price? Does anyone know?

hmmm... time spent posting, waiting for replies, researching/searching/sourcing for such items at a good price, and eventually going to the store and spending money buying it could be put to good use by DIY.

For those who have PMed to ask me where I've bought the laundry bag.

It's a $2 shop near Banktown MTR station, Sydney.

Went there again a few months later. Couldn't see it anymore. Probably sold out.

Print out the photo and show to the sales people.

It is made in China and distributed to all over the world.

I've read in PhotoMalaysia that some photographers bought their "laundry bags" from Ikea and Jusco.

to get more directed light, can line the inside of the lamp hood with aluminium foil (shiny side) den tissue paper the opening for diffusion. or tracing paper (or if using alight tent, den no need diffuse)
florenscense bulbs usually are frosted, so no need diffuse also

ikea got those lamp can clamp to table one, den the lamp head is 360degree adjustable, not bad.
If we buy those ikea lights right, need to custom white balance anot?

If you google, there are many tutorials on how to make your own lightbox.

    Here is one.
    http://filebox.vt.edu/users/kmckevin...p/lightbox.swf

You basically need a box, majong paper, and a flourescent desktop lamp.

Those product shots in my portfolio are taken using a home made light box. If your light is not strong though, you have to photoshop because its hard to get white using a home made light box.

u mean the light will spill into the black bg making it not as black as jet? wah good qn! how to prevent those spills ar? i see the those specifically made light tent will not protect against spills also. my guess is to use a more directed light source and to block the other side of the tent (eg light coming from left, block the right panel) with black matt paper too to prevent reflecting/scattering.

wah black light box? wah 1st time hear. emitt black light? loL

eh i only got the ikea lamp, ikea bulbs are bloody ex. i went those DIY/hardware shop and ask for a compatible watt (read your lamp manual) compact daylight flourenscence bulb. philips got quite a few seletion. quite cheapz too, <10$ each. comes in 2 designs, the U-shaped and "hurricane" style. i see most googled set up use hurricane bulbs.

I succumbed to cheepoism and went to Ikea to buy a laundry bag, 1x table lamp, and 1x standing lamp and a couple of mouse pads. I needed the lamps for daily use anyway... so that's double cheepoism.

I have not taken any pictures yet (no time), but I hope to take some over the weekend.

As for the light bulbs... I figured that any cool daylight bulbs will do. What's the point of getting professional photography bulbs because the light will be filtered through the nylon of the light tent... and the colour temperature will be off. Better to use custom WB to adjust the temperature. :P

But I had a slight problem. I went to Giant to buy 2x 23W white bulbs... but only one of the lamps can take such a big bulb. I will have to buy another smaller one for the other light. :P

I'll take some pictures and show some results soon.
