Hi All
Pretty much in a dilemma now..... I will be in US very soon for a week and am planning to get a DSLR from there nevermind if there is no warranty......my budget is about SGD1.1K....so no 40D for me and 450D is not due out when i am there in US, anyway it will be above budget as well...... 1) 400D with 18-55mm lens is about USD590 2) 30D with 18-55mm lens is about USD800 Which will you experts go for? |

i have a 30d. but either way, get w/o kit lens and pay a bit more for a 18-50 f2.8 tamron or sigma.

Yes, get the body alone, and probably go for another lens. 17-50mm Tamron of 18-50mm Sigma will do you better.

with ur budget, i'd think a 400d. cos even though older, a 30d body would cost about 200-300 more than a 400d.

Get 30D you never regret. If you want to save the money can find a good 2nd 30D in the forum for about 900SGD. Spot meetering, better grip and well-built body & design (two dials) make 30D much more better than 400D.

i'll go for 30D (in fact, i got a 2nd hand 30D instead of waiting for 450D). i decided on 30D instead of 400D bcos of the grip. it feels more comfortable in my hands. of cos, spot metering is a plus and better build but its secondary compared to the grip.
i'll suggest getting without the kit lens as many have suggested, and get a better lens instead. if budget is a constrain, get the 18-55 f3.5 to 5.6 IS. otherwise consider a 17-50 f2.8 tamron or sigma 18-50 f2.8. |

I think can't compare 400D to 30D both of them are of different class.
Must see what you want bro, are you going to upgrade later if you get 400D?
