according to this website, it has been released, retailing at HKD6080 for body alone and HKD6880 for the Kit.
After converting, assuming exchange rate of SGD1 = HKD5.5, we get: 450D body alone = SGD$1105 (Canon SG RRP is SGD$1349) 450D kit = SGD$1250 (Canon SG RRP is SGD$1499) Does anyone know how much cheaper the local shops usually sell below Canon's RRP? |

i've done some analysis, correct me if i'm wrong.
Canon 40D body alone RRP is $2099. AP and MS are selling body alone for $1850~ including GST (cash). this makes the shop prices 12% cheaper than the RRP. Assuming the 400D RRP is $1349, 12% less would make it $1190~. If it's $1190, then it's only $85~ more than that in HK. IMHO, that $85 is worth it for the extra warranty you get. hope this is useful to everyone. ![]() Caveat: I'm not sure if the HK prices listed on that site represent Canon HK's RRP or the street price. Because if it represents the RRP, the street price is likely to be lower still, possibly in the high 900 to low 1000 SGD range. Last edited by Isaiahfortythirtyone; 28th March 2008 at 10:08 AM. |

Mainland China
450D body: RMB 48xx ~ SGD 950-ish I think the price you saw was RRP. |

i did think of the kit lens. but i i have the bad habit of pixel peeping... and i always see myself awing at razor sharp photos.
so if i get the kit, i forsee the urge to upgrade, very soon. like a few months? of course i want the ef-s 17-55 but i cant afford, so settle with tamron lor. more bang for the buck i guess. (and if i get the tamron now, i can save myself a few months of fustrating pixel peeping) edit: as they say, "the more you wait, the less pictures u take" edit2: and my friend also got the 50 1.8. i plan to borrow, and save myself the $$. since portraits are quite specific. ( i dun think when walking about town, suddenly gotta take portait of some stranger, mostly is event/portrait shoots de, so can borrow in advance) and tamron's 2.8@50mm can take decent portraits too when really bo bian. The new IS kit lens is not bad for pixel-peeping. But the sample variation may be larger than normal.
