Thread: How do I secure my flash on a flash stand?

  1. #1

Question How do I secure my flash on a flash stand?

My idea is mimicking a twin-light macro flash MT-24Ex by using two flashes, 580Ex
and 420Ex on each side of my camera.

I drilled three 1/4" holes on a metal plate and screw it to my camera, with extension
cord to fix 580Ex as master, which can fix onto the metal plate by another screw..

I put a 420Ex in slave mode.. I was told 580Ex and 420Ex must be in line of sight..
Now my question is, with camera in the middle, will the 580Ex trigger successfully?

Where can I find this kind of flash shoe?

    http://www.adorama.com/SVSHOE.html

Smith Victor Flash Shoe to Mount a Flash or Video Light onto a Light Stand with a 1/4-20 Screw.

    the flash's socket and a 1/4" screw..
They should be available from Cathay Photo or Ruby Photo.

They should work. Doesn't the extension cord have a tripod screw hole?

off-cord 2's flash holder has mounting screw hole at the bottom.

iirc, all canon 5series comes with a small flash stand that also has a mounting screw hole at the bottom.
photography makes one sees things from all angles.
