Sand Mandala at Buddha Tooth Relic Temple

I was taking photo around chinatown when come across this event at BTRT.

This is a fund raising event (up to you to donate) for Kopan Khachoe Ghakyil Ling Nunnery for its expansion plan due to the increasing number of nuns.

It is located near Kopan Monastery near the Buddhist town of Boudhanath in Nepal's Kathmamdu Valley.

I had the chance to speak to the in-house official photographer in BTRT. There are a total of 8 representative from the Nunnery. They work in shift, 2 at a time. It started on 08/03/08, so today is the 12th days working on this Sand Mandala.

The display will be on from 21st - 25th this month. It will be "demolish" on the 26th.

A rare display of ancient art!

look see look see still ok, but will face great difficulty if want to shoot from 21st onwards as it will be cover with a transparent plastic case, hence there will be reflections.
