Cosplayers are not models per se, and are not there to cater for photographers trying to get creative shots. Even if the event is public, some consideration must be made as to how to approach the cosplayers for photographs in the first place.

If there are truly no issues, that thread would not exist in the first place. Maybe we should organise a workshop on photography etiquette.
Yup, cosplayers are not models; they are passionate about their hobby and are gracious enough to let us take pictures of them. And I think that there is also a need to be reciprocal. If you took a nice pic of the cosplayers do share it with them on the sgcafe forums.

Some of them do wonder what type of photos we take of them cos they POSE POSE POSE and SMILE SMILE SMILE until they are tired yet they still try to accomodate our photo requests but they don't get to see anything at the end of the day.

They cant shoot landscape, cos will end up damaging it..
They can only shoot themselve, cos, that where they will be at their best attiquette..
No only in photography, courteousy should be for every other things we do daily.

I recently visited the Wonderfest(Winter) in tokyo and i must say they are extremely organised/disciplined to queue up to take shoots at the cosplayers.

That should be implemented in singapore. I wish for it to happen. it gives everyone a good chance to shoot from a good position.

just look at the crowd at motorshow. the camera-holding-people flocks around the "hot" models like bees around a queen bee (while i can have almost like a private time with a few of the locals models one to one, cos everyone else is elsewhere ).

OT a bit, i admit i cheapskate (and poor) and didnt go for paid model shoot (i only shoot my friends, and events like motor show), but the sheer number of camera-holding-people at these events are growing and starting to be too large for any decent photoshoot to take place.

(grabbed from sgcafe. was this taken by someone here?)

I was actually at vivo over the weekend, saw the crowd, sian-ed by the sight so my camera didn't even leave my bag (not even worth the shutter count).
I wonder why the f**k does someone need to use a 200mm when you are f**king rite next to the stage?

Sad to say, some of the people owning a camera are "single desperate unwanted" with loser image, the camera is the only tools for them to act pro so as to know girls.

That is not a photography problem.. that is social..

With some US states legalising use of arms, we have heard so many cases of abuses, even when we are at the other end of the world. Its a tragic when one missuse the tools. But you do not see the law-enforcer being condemn when its used on criminals justly...

So I just want to say ~ complains like that should best help us guard our hearts. And not an opportunity for mass blames on and sterotype the photographers. We do hold cameras as well... think it start with us... and this is the thing to first share, when u introduce photography to a friend. Cheers mate no point scold photographers when MOST of them ae innocent and nice...

a boss of a camera shop once said to me that years back some men using film SLR with zoom lens, spend the whole day at motorshow but their SLR were not loaded with film.

i think they should buy a binoculars...

I dunno man, some TKPs think that taking armpits is a form of art. If I post the pic up, 80% will prob know who they are.
