Default where to focus

The following shot was taken using a 50mm F1.4mm MF lens. 1/60sec F2 setting. no flash.

due to the big aperture, the DOF is very shallow, I had place focusing onto the LEFT eye while shooting. Because I thought that it will create a "lead-in" effect into the picture.

However, after seeing in the computer, it seems that focusing the RIGHT eye should be the so called "correct" shot. because logically, things that are further away should appear blurer....

Please advice .... which eye should I focus ?

For this photo I prefer if you focus on the right eye... as most of us look or read from left to right...
Juz my two cents...

while DOF could be applied elsewhere, for such cute baby face, I would prefer at least both eyes, including the face to be sharpped all over. My personal opinion.

I agree with CT too ... you can try to focus on the face and use a bigger aperture ... may have a better impact.

mechattax, ssping83, CT 3833 and hongwei . Many thanks for the comments. I think I have got the answer in am looking for . I should have stop down one more step, say F2.8 or ( betwen F2.8 and F4 ) so that both eyes are sharp.

thanks again. Will go shoot again .

point to middle of the eye and use f4... confirm swee swee... since u already use f2 (or your f2 is about something else), f2.8 also not much diff.

thanks for the tip, I think you should be correct, F4 should be good enough, anything smaller will not have the blur effect liao...
