    what cam do you use?

    on 1.3 crop
24-105 f4 is perfect all day walkaround and 50mm f1.4 for low light
    on 1.6 crop
24-70 served well with 30mm f1.4 thrown in for low light

If just based on your lens stated I would say the shorter one on a 1.6 crop and add a low light lens for use at night.

IS/VR is almost compulsory as it allows you to take photos while riding transports. I brought the 18-200VR for the Cambodia trip and managed to take some decent photos while on a tuk-tuk and that is definitely a bumpy ride!

when I was in HK with the 1.6 crop and full frame camera, the only lens I enjoyed using was the 24mm f1.4 prime. I had a 24-105 f4 but I guess my style is to shoot in lowlight, indoors, at night. Your mileage may vary!

    i had the most fun with a 10.5 fisheye, 12-24 and a 50/1.8.

never found myself wishing i had other lenses.

If you're bringing a few lenses for overseas trips, you also have to bring cleaning fluid and it's accessories.

I'm a Nikon user and use the pow ka leow 18-200mm VR lens.

Guess you have not read the TS' post properly. He is asking what should he bring, from his existing equipment, and not for recommendations for a lens to buy.

TS, bring your 17-85 IS and 50mm f/1.4 for nice portraits and stuff. I've found that one general zoom and a fast normal/slightly longer prime works fine for travel, but then again I've never travelled with more than one prime before so I wouldn't know.

I did go to Melbourne with a 30D, Sigma 10-20, 24-85, 50mm f/1.8 and 580EX. Nothing much that made me wish I brought more lenses or equipment.
