It's around, but not sure if there is much in stock because demand has apparently been pretty high. Here's a link to the Expandore shopping site. You can try all the other Sony Pro dealers as well.

I have tried P2, XDCAM & AVCHD imports and all works great with FCP.
You can choose to import natively or into your preferred working format, and best part is that you can carry on editing while importing in the background.

R u refering to Z7? We had a hands on last week at the launch. Very nice to be handheld compared to EX1. But the EX1's LCD and resolution blows everyone away. I managed to get a nice DOF in a dimly lit room even.

Z7 is better for wedding at the moment. Handheld work is way better with Z7 den EX. Of cuz low light wise EX would be better since the chip size is diff and Ex can do real HD compared to HDV of Z7. Thing is the accessories that is a prob.. new batt for EX ($400) and the SxS is a killer.. 16Gb is more than 1k now.. so u must dump 12-13k for a usable setup compared to Z7's $9k ba.

If I m using a Z1 one I wouldnt bother to upgrade until the price of the cards come down. Wedding couples r not ready to give u 3k for a wedding. Many top end VGs are still offering 2k packages on SD. So I guess the true factor to be a good wedding VG is the editing style and shooting skill. A HDV cam is good enuf for the moment.

Both HVX and EX can tune picture profiles to give the colour u need. A lot of argument on 4:2:2 colourspace but i think if u r getting the o/p of EX from SDi, u should get 4:2:2.. i m not sure. U can also shoot flat and CC in post.

Thing is EX can do 1920x1080 25p.. and the cranking up/down is the REAL thing.. really amazing footage. I would go for the EX if i were u for the larger chip (low light is better) and the ability to do a variety of formats. The P2 and SxS issue is also a big diff for post processing. Price diff is 3$k which is worth it in my opinion.

Check out some of the footages. Some are used with DOF adapter
EX1 Samples at 720P

ha ha dun worry, the EX has a function called "detail" which could be tuned to reduce the sharpness. That also means out of focus is totally unacceptable!

Most of the couples prefer to be as clear as possible...but I do face one of the couple prefer to add some soft effect...

agree but I prefer to maintain the details then add soft effect during post production when it is needed especially closeup...
