Take a look at this:
![]() and guess what? On the left is the nikon at f/5.3 and on the right is the Sony at f/8. Bokeh on the sony platform is king!

Bro, having that kind of bokeh at f/8 is super impressive cos small apertures usually create highlights in the bokeh which is not good like the Nikon example... the large aperture pictures at f/3.5 would be pretty much the same as at f/8 I would expect...

Isn't the CZ twice as expensive?

No. The 16-85 VR is about SGD 960, same as the CZ price outside SG.

Interesting...
Many of his shots are not controlled enough for comparison purposes I notice. ![]() Though I'd like to note that in the DRO/Active D lighting test, the A200 seemed warmer in colour tone and darker in the shadows.

The CZ 16-80mm bokeh and pastel colours look very much like a lot of the olden european lens that are so nice for outdoor portraits! My first experience with that kind of look which is quite hard to explain is with the Zenit 55mm F2 m42 cheap Russian lens. I got to admit I find the bokeh from the Nikon 16-85mm VR in that sample unsightly, but a test at the same aperture would be better.

Actually looking carefully again at the above sample, are they shot exactly at the same focal length? It seems like the CZ 16-85mm was shot at a little more telephoto than the Nikon 16-85mm VR?

Opps.. on 2nd look, the smoother bokeh fooled me into thinking it was a shot at a more telephoto focal length. After looking carefully again, it looked quite similar focal length. Very impressive feature for outdoor portraits indeed!

abit OT.
the pics give me a chance to compare the colors and quality of the pics produced by 2 new entry-level cams. it seems to me that A200 produces pics that are more natural looking while D60 produces pics that are more vibrantly looking. am i right to say that?

No, they're both at the same focal length. I think he set up 2 tripods next to each other.

Nope, but the 7-bladed Nikon aperture is pretty obvious.

Yes, but default color profile and the lens can make a difference here. CZ glass is known for sharpness and high contrast.

the one on the right is at f/4.5 not f/8. bokeh would be expected to be better for larger aperture due to smaller depth of field.
