Shriro should have a formal launch reception to invite existing Pentax users and the press to the unveiling of the new cameras and lenses. That way they can get closer to the local Pentax users and up-sell/take pre-orders for the new cameras. Nothing like a slick presentation, hands-on demo and good marketing buzz to generate interest and sales.

All I can say is they're pretty short on marketing ideas. Why never learn from the folks at Sony...

Seriously, I would rather spend a Friday or Saturday evening for a launch event (much like the watch events I get invited to) than to jostle with thousands of others at the IT show. Short, concentrated effort aimed at the serious buyer, after all, isn't the K20D the flagship camera? So much easier to take orders and so much time to enjoy the eye candy.

The pasar malam/trade show approach is frankly going by the last few trade shows that featured Pentax cameras.

Well first of all, Shirio is not Pentax. All they do is just REPRESENT Pentax in Singapore and Malaysia. Apparently our market here is too small for Pentax to give a damn, so we will always get the rear end of the deal, same like how Maxs**t's representation of Nintendo here in Singapore is making a lot of fans mad.
