thanks for the reply ... guys ... there is no visible damage at all ... but if you shake the lens and camera can here tiny sounds that some stuffs are loose ... the sensor still got light ... just cannot focus ... there is no cracks at all ..... well because i was taking some shots of myself on bed ... so i put the camera on a stand and 1 leg on the bed for a closer shot ... who knows the next thing that happen the camera toppled side ways ... i was too slow to catch and it landed on my door then the floor ... though there is no physical damage or scratch at all ...
i think tmr i bring down the repair center i just tell them i dunno wat happen i take out from my cupboard and this happen ...... or any bros have better xplaniation ????? thanks

![]() 1) The sound came from the camera itself or the lens itself? If it is the camera, the sound may be from the orientation sensor leh. Ok, i went to shake my kit lens for ya. Both front and rear caps off. A very tiny sound can be heard from the lens. 2) You mentioned the photo is dark. So does it mean you are still able to take photos? If not, then how does the focus problem come about? 3) Is the lens fixed completely onto the body? I've tried to slowly mount a lens and look through the view finder at the same time. Initially will see dark image, until the full turn, then you will see proper image. I suppose the contact may be malfunctioning since there is error in contact. But ultimately, i am not a repair expert. ![]() Best to bring it down to NSC and do a check. As to what excuse to use, i guess, not advisable to teach people to lie. Hahaha. ![]()

hehee .... mmmmm
firstly i separated the camera body and lens ... so when i shake the lens got sound ... but can c no cracked or phsycial damage but i do notice that near the bottom of the lens where u attached it to the camera body .... got alittle bit of coming out .... u know manual focus ring that u use for manual focus .... ya over there can c abit coming out ... secondly i shaked the camera body ... alot of small sounds can be heard .. it sounds like small sands knocking around inside thirdly when i attached the lens to the body throught the viewfinder i can c image but hor when i click to take picture .... it will just snap but the picture turns out subperly dark........... and not in focus at all fourthly i can''t seems to fix the lens completely in cause of the loosing at the focus ring there ... on the display keeps showing me F -- but still can click to take pics thanks ![]()

Simple lar Bro - Just a simple "I dun know what happened"... Same thing happened to my flash sometime back (flung my cam behind me, cos need to squat down quick to retrieve fallen items - Next thing you know the GN range all disappeared when flash head tilted to 90deg, without difusser - those who have used SB800 will know).
Brought my flash (still covered by warranty) and told NSC counter staffs - dun know what happened, no GN range read out... ![]() Got it done for free (so long as the service technicians) dun suspect "foul play" on your part... Hope this helps (act blur and look like someone who bought DSLR, but ONLY use A"nything" mode - and still learning how to operate the cam)...

They will know you dropped it. The damage caused wont be from an electronical failure but from an impact. Better off being honest and paying for your mistake. D80 really that fragile? Ive dropped my cameras a few times and they all work fine, dropped a speedlight by the pool a few days ago, was a solid crash, but working fine. I have to give credit to Nikons sturdy gear.

there are some forms of damage that can only be sustained through impact or shock.

From your description, don't think there is anything wrong with the camera (that sound like "small snads knocking around inside" is the orientation sensor), but there is something wrong with the lens - most probably something wrong with the aperture control being that the image is dark. Do you have another lens to test the camera with ? |

You bet
![]() ![]() ![]() Just be honest and tell, they may help. Even if they don't read they will know by looking at the damage. ![]() |
