Diver-hloc hit the nail on the head: You will definitely outgrow your Kit-lens if you shoot often once you buy the dslr. Then when you get new lenses, you'll leave it unused and then sell it. The Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 is probably not going to leave your camera bag if you purchase it!
only IF there's someone selling a 2nd hand Tamron which i think its kinda hard to find since it's good!!

but let's just wait for the right time for me to get the camera and a TAMRON!! heheh

since i've posted this thread, the temptation of getting the camera is so great!!

on a contrary note, i would suggest sticking with the kit lens first. i used it for almost a year before i got another lens.

why don't you learn about the camera and the lens before you spend so much money?

the only reason why i don't use the kit lens now is because i only shoot less than 24mm or above 50mm. not much in between... but i still bring it out for casual shots. it's really not bad.

don't just rely on buying newer and better equipment to get pictures...

Im a newbie in CS and very new to DSLR. I’m kinda used to Canon’s system.. I’d a Powershot A85 but sadly enough it went ‘dead” after 2yrs and it’ll cost me abt $200 to get the screen repaired…. And so I got a Powershot A570 IS and it has been serving me very well since the last 4mths….. Anyways, I’ve been eyeing on 400D since the first time my eyes set on it abt 1yr+ ago.. I’ve had my hands on trying the 400D from my friend and I feel comfortable holding it since I’ve small hands. My aim is to get the 400D once after the release of 450D as im pretty sure the price of 400D will drop… Therefore I need some advice or tips or recommendation before I purchase the set…
Budget wise is abt $1350 or lesser!!
I like to take different kind of photos like sceneries, buildings, portraits, macro…

    1. Should I get it with the kit lens 18-55mm or get the body and get a Tamron lens?

    2. What abt grey set and local set? If anyone could explain more abt that… and how would I trust/know when i want to purchase from the shop..

    3. Recommendations of any good cust service shops with good deals??

    4. Any rough idea when will be the release of 450D cause I cant wait to get my hands on my 400D!! =D

Need ur advise here!! Thanks a lot in advance!!
    1. Dun get kit lens as you can get a better offer zoom lens in BNS

    2. Buy local set.

    3. Shops like Cathay, Alan photo, John, etc...

    4. Visit the IT show. You may get the hint.

    You're most welcome

Got the basic kit set for now with UV lens+ extra 3rd party batt.
Expanding my set with a 2nd hand 70-300mm F/4-5.6 (~$200)but the BNSeller very rude so i'm still looking for it here.
I'm getting a new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8(~$120-$135) lens once it's in stock.
Got myself a 60L DHC digicabi. ($244 with deliv)
Still looking for a suitable travel bag to buy but so many choice, have to find one that fits the way i like to take out my new baby ;P
Looking for a tripod maybe at the coming IT show.
Steal a line from one of the members here "No point asking when you dun start shooting you won't know what you want" . Heehee...went out and buy the very next day :O
Wah so many things I want the BBB really getting me now *pout*

Parisilk seems to have some pretty good deal as well. Give them a call:
    Nee Soon - 64521593
    Holland V - 64666002 (Very Friendly, I like)
    Bedok - 64416066

All the deal seems pretty much the same, just a minus here or there on freebies but after doing your sum it's all about the same. I find the one that respond to me with better and friendly attuide and buy. Even if it means spending $20-$30 extra, the service to me is worth more.

Sorry mister, I am sad to inform you that your test results for the "BBB Virus" have turned out positive.

Please contact your family and make the necessary arrangements.
