are your old flash still in working condition??

what old flash is that? with hotshoe?

are the battery chamber clean, no corrode or rust?

does your manual camera have a hotshoe?

does all the hotshoe contact point clean?

If no hotshoe, does the camera have an PC sync socket and does the flash have it too?

if you camera got pc sync socket, you can use a pc-to-hotshoe adapter to fire the flash as well if your flash don't have a pc sync socket.
