Hi Folks,
I'm in Australia at the moment and stumbled across a deal for the Tamron AF 11-18mm Wide Zoom DiII LD (Canon Mount) for AUD$600 (brand new with warranty etc). In addition, I can also recover my 10% GST on the lens, which brings the price down to about AUD$545 (approx S$700). Should I get it? It's the last piece available in the store and I'm quite keen. Suggestions, feedback etc appreciated as always. The sooner the better cause it's not going to be around for long. http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/11_18mm.asp Thanks in advance T'spaz (This post is a repeat of the one in the Newbies/Canon forums. I wanted to try here for advice since replies are a little slow in the other sections.) |

personally, ive never tried this lens, but a friend told me not to go for this lens. get the tokina 12-24 instead (only abt $50 more, in s'pore that is), or the sigma 10-20 if u need the 10mm. the latter was recommended by a friend, so ive not tried it either
the tokina is great value for $$, decent build and IQ. also, go for the nikon 12-24 (or canon 10-22) if u have a larger budget and u wont regret ![]() |

i'd rather you spend slightly more (arnd $900) and get a Canon EF-S 10-22mm. One thing, u get a greater range, wider angle and of cos, faster AF (USM!). Personally used the 10-22 before and i have to say it's a helluva lens! very nice

Thanks for the replies fellas. I opted against it and got myself a Canon 10-22 in the end. I love it to bits. More pricey but certainly, a better buy.
