Default How can I get a more "up close" shot with my sony 100mm

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if any of you alpha users have tried out using tubes or a teleconverter with your sony 100mm macro lens to get a really "up close" shot of insects. If you have, could you state the brand and model along with where you got it from? If you have a photo taken with that setup, do share it!!

Thanks guys!

Before giving you the answer, can you take a shot of a ruler, see how close can you get. Post the photo here.

@ megaweb,

I don't have my camera with me atm but heres an example of what I can achieve with my very limited skill.

and this is his

Even though I had done quite alot of cropping, I was not able to achieve that amount of magnification. Either that or he has really scary flies in his neighbourhood.

I'll take a picture of a ruler later if its still needed.

@ eow
Sounds kewl, me and my gf will see u guys there!

@ boombox
Yeah, I've taken a look at that thread. I'm very impressed with the fly photo.

bro francisdcx, I agree, I crop until like mad, also cannot reach that kind of magnification The amazing macros he's been creating are basically out of my realm.

I thought I'm the only one wondering why 100mm alone can do this wonder.
I think his secret is 100% crop, maybe 500%, who knows. And maybe the fly is bigger than yours.

I did cropping on photo taken using my 70mm lens before, and it really looks rather big.

Can't remember whether this is 100%, could be reduced size.
My setting that time can only reach 1:2 at most. If your macro lens can reach 1:1, that kind of magnification is definitely possible.
