Default Reflections on a Pond

This is a couple of shots of a little Heron looking for food in a pond.

Comments are most welcome

Default Reflections

This is a very good shot (first one) good composition and lightning. Sharp with beautiful colours and taken just at the right time of day when the reflections from the otherwise dull coloured pond enhances the overall shot.

Somehow, it doesnt work for me. I think you should get in closer or wait for it to move nearer. The subject which I assume is the bird is not given the emphasis and the background and lighting seems to be taking over. Easy to say, but not so easy to do. I am also trying to get that much nearer in my shots too.

Hi mphil,

I would normally not take this pic at that range (cannot move nearer unless I go into the water). However, what tempted me was the reflection and the rich colour.

I agree that it would be a good idea to have the subject bigger and stands up rather than the background. In this instance, on retrospect, perhaps I should have change to a wide lens and have a bigger picture of the landscape with the heron complimenting it. Not sure if it would work.

Anyway thanks for the frank comments, sure appreciate it.
