tourists looks like mini-stonehenge from a distance. think the backlight casting them in silhouette without colors help in that.

i think it's not sensor, is my silly filter, cos i cleaned my sensor the day before.. hahaha. but forgot to clean filter.. must have missed out the cloning of the dirty parts. having no clouds in the sky makes the filter spotting damn obvious. ![]() anyways, i have quite a few more shots from the salisbury cathedral (europe is literally full of cathedrals) and this ruin site called old sarum with many nice trees, will post them up as they come along.. ![]() Last edited by night86mare; 19th February 2008 at 06:25 PM. |

i got to say physical preservation of culture is pretty well done in UK. the ticketing booth and sourvenir shop must have been still in the "trough" hidden away from the horizon. the last time i'm there, they are worried about us stepping on the grass spreading the mad cow disease.... now i see the signs have changed. things is hardly the same in asia; some even walled off the archaeological sites for dubious purposes..... besides the tourists do add to your photo when they are backlit. like i say, mini-stonehenges... well, alternatively, we can imagine them as ancient celts on their way to worshipping... if there is further imagination and manipulation, let's add an excalibur in the middle of the stonehenge where there is a space. #8 ![]() Taken in the area of Old Sarum, the site where the original earliest recorded settlement of Salisbury was. There are many ruins (i.e. rocks and stone piles) located around the area, which has many trees, and very pleasing terrain. |

thank you
pentax k100d, tianya graduated grey filter was on a sigma 10-20.. settings it all depends. most of the photos have their exif intact so you can look at it if you wish, i think. just save it and use the properties function in windows to see what fstop and shutter speed and iso was used. most here should be iso400 though. ![]() |

The last one was really good! I love the colours and the leading fence. You could use the fence to your advantage slightly more by going to the left alittle bit and isolating the tree. I love isolated trees bathed in golden light and that's rarely seen in singapore. Perhaps you can even use the branches of the trees to partially cover the sun to get a nicer "star" effect. =) just a suggestion. keep shooting!

yes, i wish i had more time there.. at the moment i just took a few snaps, and had to move on.. the trouble of travelling as a group. i'm quite sure there would have been a stronger composition than what was depicted above.well, singapore has a lot of isolated trees, but there doesn't really tend to be hills i guess.. you just have to search for them. a lot of the ir people know where to find the isolated trees hurhur. cheers! |
