Sigma 4.5mm FE

Some fun shots from Sigma 4.5mm FE.
The only circular FE for cropped sensor.
More shots to follow maybe from next week.

The build quality of this lens is very good, solid all round.
Very sharp image (as with all fisheye, no surprise).
First have to be careful of the protruding element of the lens and the close focus ability of a FE otherwise you will end up with a scratched front element. Don't know why they make a push in ring just to hold the lens cap ??. The push in "hood" vignets the image circle but otherwise does not do anything.
I also find the image circle a little small on the Nikon possibly due to the fact that it was made for all other cropped factor as well and would be bigger on other cropped factor.
In any case a great fun lens to have.

hehe FE fun portrait, more pronounce than a full frame FE and more fun.
Also tested if used with matrix metering optimal exposure should be -1 EV.
If use with centre weighted it seems OK but will not evaluate scene properly at times.
Spot is also OK but will have to evaluate further as my D300 is fitted with a split screen so there are some effect on it.

More snapshots here.
Exposure needs to be controlled due to the large black portion that fooled the metering but generally a -0.7 to -1 EV seems OK. Pictures are all cropped to 2400 by 2400 pixels.

im so tempted the buy lol.
tried the sigma 8mm FE b4, but on a cropped body, i don't get the full circle. only on a FF digital or film SLR.

regarding metering, i tink spot or partial metering shd be better than evaluative.

Yep, this is the equivalent of the 8mm in APS size sensor.
Actually I find evaluative metering with a -0.7 to -1EV better than partial.
It gives more consistant results than partial.

Dennis,

The 'push in hood' is not meant to act as a lens hood. The 'push in hood' is just there simply to hold the lens cap when the lens is not in used. So when you want to use the lens, just remove the lens cap and the 'push in hood' otherwise all your photos will have the corners being cut off.
