Hi, I am using a Nikon D300 with 18-200mm VR. I will only pull back to 24mm as I find th distortion for 18mm is too high. With 24mm, I have problem taking group pictures during CNY. I am looking for a Super Wide Angle Zoom like 12-24mm or 10-20mm. The Nikon 12-24mm F/2.8 is too pricy for me as my budget is below 1K. Can anyone recommend a good Tamaron,Sigma or Tokina lens of this range? Thank and Happy CNY.

I own a Tokina 12-24 f/4 and have been very satisfied with it
The Nikon 12-24 f/4 is almost twice the price... and Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 is way over my head ![]() |

well, the most "optical distortion-free" of those is probably the sigma 12-24, cost higher than the 10-20 and tokina 12-24 as well but fit FF cam as probably the widest non-fisheye you can get.

The Tokina 12-24mm ... Sigma 10-20mm ... Tamron 11-18mm ...
they all have there plus and minus. Tokina + solid built - CA Sigma + 10mm wide - QC Tamron + light weight - light weight ! All the above are DX types and are below $900. An older model, the Sigma 12-24mm ... "35mm format"... + least distortion - no front filter thread Good afternoon. ![]()

I'm using tokina 12-24mm, since you can't live with 18mm distortion on 18-200mm lens, I believe the distortion on any ultra wide angle lens will disappoint you too.

The Tamron 10-24 f/3.5-4.5 is coming out this year, you might want to wait. But all super wide lens comes with more or less some distortion.

I am very happy with the Sigma 10-20. Sure have distortion, especially when one does not level the camera. Got to accept this, and to work within this limit.
At its price, cannot complain. |
