Just got a F717, am considering either Sony LCJ-FHA or Lowepro Prisma 200. Basically wanted a travel friendly bag (compact) that is somewhat "splash" proof. Any recommendations?
Also, is the wide angle VCL-MHG07A useful? ![]() |

it fits nice. ![]() Later I bought the Lowepro Ommisports, so I can fit in accessories and telephoto lens. Now I changed to lowepro Ommitraveller coz my flash cannot fit in already. Selling the ommisports at $40 rp, if you are interested. http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthrea...threadid=34873 Never bought the wide angel len so not sure about it ![]() Last edited by majere2sg; 30th May 2003 at 02:41 PM. |

I have both the LCJ-FHA and a Lowepro Off Road.
The LCJ-FHA, can only fit the camera, plus it's lens hood. While it's splash proof as it is leather. It is not cheap. It's abt $80. I suggest a Lowepro Topload Zoom 1 or 2. (Zoom 2 is slight longer than Zoom 1.) It's only $20-25 and the long depth allows the F717 to be carried with it's lens facing down and hence easy to take out and shoot. The front pocket of the Topload Zoom 1 or 2, can hold the extra battery, and the external flash and extra Memory sticks and filters. If you get the LCJ-FHA, you cannot store batteries, flashes, spare memory sticks and extra 'AA' batteries for the flash. The SONY's Wide Angle lens has high reviews and hence I felt it should be quite good, but it's price of $400+ is way too high for me. Besides it's only a 0.75x converter. So with the SONY's 38mm-190mm lens you get, 28.5mm-142.5mm, almost like a 28mm - 140 mm lens I bought a cheapo Vitacon (3rd party) wide angle with the 58mm threading. It's only $150+ and it offers a 0.5x (19mm - 95mm), which is wider. but it does cause vignetting at the extreme 19mm and slight distortion, so I try to avoid going full wide. A wide angle is good for landscapes for for shooting in a small room or tight spaces, where you cannot move backwards from the subject to "take in more people" in your shot (like shooting a group of friends). like in a public area or crowded area with people walking behind you. Thanks all for helping me narrow down quickly to:
1. LCJ-FHA for ultimate compactness - zero storage space tho 2. Lowepro Prisma 200 AW 3. Lowepro Topload Zoom1 BTW, if you're letting go any of the items do PM me! Still undecided about the wide angle lens..... |

The Vitacon might not be really 0.5x too. I bought a 0.4x and found it's only ~0.5x in real life. So, your 0.5x might end up to be 0.6+x instead. Given the small difference in price, the VCL-MHG07A seems a better buy..... |
