As above, I was wondering, in terms of picture clarity and price.
, does anyone have any comments between these 3 brands that they care to share? |

Depends on which lens. Similarly, you can't ask which brand of lenses, Canon, Nikon or Olympus, are better. Each have their share of trump lenses and flops.

Sigma - 70-300mm Tamron - 17-50mm Tokina - 100 mm I think they are all cheap and good in their respective focal range ![]()

Rather difficult to answer your question. However, if budget is your concern, then maybe 3rd party lenses for better.

Each of them have their pros and cons... so it is difficult to answer such a question. Each brand also have their good lenses, and not so good ones. If you want to get any 3rd party lenses, do the research and read the reviews.
One of the places I go to is... http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/ In this... you can read up some reviews... and I would consider going for a lens that is rated at least 9... or around there. You can also check out this web site... http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/overview They give you a more technical review with charts and stuff... |

Each brand has it's share of good and not so good lenses so it's a bit hard to say... however in terms of compatability with future camera bodies:
sigma has had the most issues with lenses not being able to be used on newly released bodies tokina has some issues but not as many as sigma tamron has very few |

depends on lens
do your homework before buying la, got so many happy test sites out there you can also compare to your can, nik, son, pen lenses of course sig, tam and tok would usually give you better value for money, at the cost (possibly) of not as great quality control. |

in general, sigma has a wide array of consumer and professional lenses that offer great value. it has the widest range of lenses amongst the third party companies and offers technologies such as OS and HSM. also, the offer lenses that no other manfacturer has answers to like the 50-500mm, 150-500mm OS, 120-400mm OS, 100-300mm f/4, 120-300mm f/2.8, 70mm f/2.8 and even the 30mm f/1.4 DC.
tokina is reknowned for the tough excellent build with respectable optics. however, most of the lenses tend to exhibit more CA than their other brand counterparts. my personal favourite is tamron. while others condemn their build quality, i like them because they are light weight. also, they offer optical champions like the 17-35SP, 17-50SP, 28-75SP and the legendary 90mm macro SP. |

I never mind poor build quality, but annoys me most is their image quality, which speaks a lot for their prices...
